Prime Steel Engineering is seeking an experienced Steel Fabricator to join our structural steel assembly team. This is a hands-on role for a motivated individual who can accurately interpret shop drawings, assemble structural steel components, and work efficiently in a fast-paced workshop environment.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring projects are completed safely, accurately, and on schedule while maintaining high quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret shop drawings with a high level of accuracy.
- Assemble structural steel components in accordance with fabrication drawings and specifications.
- Perform tack welding to position and prepare structural steel members for final welding.
- Measure, mark, and align materials to ensure correct assembly.
- Work closely with supervisors, welders, and workshop personnel to achieve production targets.
- Assist team members and contribute to a positive and productive work environment.
- Manage and monitor stock inventory, materials, and workshop consumables as required.
- Maintain quality standards throughout the fabrication process.
- Follow workplace health and safety procedures at all times.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the workshop.
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience as a Steel Fabricator within a structural steel fabrication environment.
- Excellent ability to read and interpret shop drawings.
- Welding experience, particularly tack welding of structural steel components.
- Strong understanding of fabrication processes and structural steel assembly.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to assist and support other team members when required.
- Experience managing stock inventory and material usage.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production setting.
