Pearl Catering is seeking a talented and enthusiastic Commis Chef to join our energetic kitchen team in Vaucluse, NSW. This is a full-time position that offers an excellent opportunity to develop your culinary skills within a professional catering environment. As a Commis Chef, you will work under the guidance of senior chefs, contributing to the preparation and execution of high-quality dishes for a variety of events and clients. This role is fundamental to maintaining our reputation for culinary excellence and will provide you with invaluable experience in a fast-paced, professional kitchen.

Key responsibilities

- Prepare and cook food items following established recipes, portion sizes, and presentation standards
- Assist senior chefs with mise en place, including chopping, slicing, and preparing ingredients
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of your assigned station and kitchen equipment
- Follow food safety and hygiene protocols to ensure the highest standards of food handling
- Monitor cooking times and temperatures to ensure dishes are cooked to specification
- Support plating and presentation of dishes for events and service
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to meet service demands efficiently and professionally
- Assist with inventory management and reporting of stock levels
- Learn and adapt to different cooking techniques and cuisines under mentorship

What we're looking for

- Completed culinary training or a relevant hospitality qualification (such as Certificate III in Commercial Cookery)
- Demonstrated knowledge of food preparation, cooking methods, and kitchen safety practices
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow recipes and instructions precisely




- Physical stamina and the ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
- A passion for food and a genuine interest in culinary development
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a kitchen team
- Good communication skills and a positive, professional attitude
- Understanding of food hygiene and safety regulations, including food handling certification
- Previous experience in a commercial kitchen or catering environment (preferred)
