A school nurse's aide provides essential support to the school nurse by managing daily student health needs, administering basic first aid, and documenting visits. They work under the supervision of a licensed nurse, administering medication, assisting with health screenings, and maintaining clinic records to ensure student safety. In all aspects, they support school nurses in promoting a protected and healthy learning environment for all students.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current First Aid and CPR/AED certification

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience with children, preferably in a school or healthcare setting
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) preferred

REPORTS TO: Building Nurse and Health Coordinator

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Administer basic first aid for injuries and illnesses.
- Give, document, and manage doctor-approved medication for students.
- Assist students with conditions like diabetes, asthma, or allergies (e.g., blood glucose monitoring).
- Document daily health office visits, injuries, and communicable diseases.




- Act as a liaison between the school, parents, and health providers, notifying parents of serious injuries or illnesses.
- Support the school nurse with vision, hearing, or scoliosis screenings.
- Maintain inventory of health office supplies and ensure a clean environment.

Additional Duties:

- Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Health Coordinator, Building Principal and other Central Office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

- 186.5 days; 8.0 hrs / day. Does not include a 30 minute lunch.
