Position Summary

The Art Facilitator is responsible for planning and delivering engaging, person-centred art sessions that cater to participants with diverse abilities. The facilitator creates a positive, encouraging environment where creativity, confidence, and social inclusion can flourish.

The role focuses on supporting participants to explore different art techniques while promoting independence, self-expression, communication, and community participation.

Key Responsibilities

- Plan and deliver enjoyable, inclusive art sessions suitable for participants aged 8 years and above.
- Adapt activities to accommodate varying abilities, interests, learning styles, and support needs.
- Encourage creativity while respecting each participant's individual goals and preferences.
- Foster a welcoming, respectful, and inclusive group environment.
- Assist participants in developing confidence, communication, and social interaction through creative activities.
- Prepare, organise, and maintain art materials and equipment.
- Ensure the activity area remains clean, protected, and organised before, during, and after each session.
- Identify potential risks and implement appropriate safety measures.
- Work collaboratively with support workers, families, carers, and the ACT Jubilant team.




- Monitor participant engagement and provide feedback to the Program Coordinator or Director.
- Maintain appropriate records, including attendance and session notes where required.
- Promote participant independence while providing appropriate guidance and encouragement.
- Uphold participant dignity, privacy, and choice at all times.
- Comply with all organisational policies, NDIS Practice Standards, and Work Health and Safety requirements.

Essential Selection Criteria

The successful applicant will demonstrate:

- Experience facilitating visual arts, creative workshops, or community art programs.
- Passion for supporting people with disability and promoting inclusion.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to engage participants with varying physical, intellectual, psychosocial, or sensory support needs.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Creative, flexible, and positive approach to facilitating activities.
- Commitment to participant choice, dignity, and person-centred practice.

Desirable

- Qualification in Fine Arts, Visual Arts, Art Education, Community Arts, Occupational Therapy, Disability, or a related field.
- Experience working within the NDIS or disability sector.
- Experience facilitating group-based programs.
- Knowledge of positive behaviour support principles.
- First Aid and CPR certification.

Mandatory Requirements

Applicants must hold or be willing to obtain:

- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) Registration (ACT)




- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate
- National Police Check (if required)
- Current unrestricted Australian Driver Licence
- Comprehensive motor vehicle insurance (if transporting participants)
- Right to work in Australia

Physical Requirements

The role may involve:

- Standing for extended periods during workshops.
- Setting up and packing away art equipment.
- Lifting and carrying art supplies within safe manual handling limits.
- Assisting participants with activities where appropriate.

Work Health and Safety

The Art Facilitator is responsible for:

- Following all ACT Jubilant WHS policies and procedures.
- Identifying and reporting hazards, incidents, and near misses.
- Using equipment safely.
- Maintaining a clean and safe workspace.
- Supporting emergency procedures where required.
