The first phase (a modern, intuitive Parent Portal) rolls out to schools this Term 4, with Student, Teacher, and Administration Portals to follow, each unlocking richer whole‑student insights, early signals for teachers and pastoral staff, and smarter, data‑informed interventions. The new platform is now the home of our core engineering effort.

About the role

This is a senior, hands‑on role for someone who wants to lead development within a small team and help set the technical direction of TrackOne Studio, right as the next generation of the platform lands. You’ll be writing code, shaping architecture, guiding migrations, improving engineering workflow, and mentoring developers, working closely with product and stakeholders to deliver outcomes that matter to schools.

We’re looking for a developer who actively engineers with AI agents as part of their daily workflow, using CLI‑based AI coding tools (for example Claude Code CLI, Kiro CLI, or equivalent) to orchestrate multi‑step development tasks including feature build, refactoring, test generation, documentation, and investigation. This is not a role for occasional AI use. AI must be deeply embedded in how you design, build, test, and improve software.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead development within a small team, own the technical decisions, and shape the design, architecture, and long‑term direction of TrackOne Studio.
- Plan and execute migration and modernisation work in a pragmatic, low‑risk way.
- Improve platform performance, reliability, scalability, and stability while delivering clean, secure, maintainable code aligned with engineering standards.
- Strengthen security posture by implementing and championing robust .NET security practices.
- Improve and optimise engineering processes (release cycles, branching strategies, CI/CD practices, development workflow).
- Design and maintain reliable third‑party integrations (APIs, services, data interchange, identity/SSO where relevant).
- Mentor and uplift intermediate and junior developers through coaching, pairing, and practical guidance.
- Use CLI‑based AI coding agents to orchestrate multi‑step development tasks: coding, refactoring, debugging, test generation, documentation, and legacy modernisation.
- Identify, prototype, and ship AI‑powered product capabilities that create tangible value for schools.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

- A highly experienced, hands‑on senior development lead with strong capability in technical architecture and migration planning, ready to own the technical direction of the broader product, not limited to analytics initiatives.
- A genuine passion for using AI to deliver greater value to customers,



and a track record of contributing to evolving AI‑enabled engineering standards, patterns, and tooling across the business.
- Experience designing repeatable AI workflows or lightweight internal automation that improves engineering throughput and quality.
- Proven experience integrating third‑party systems and services.
- The ability to guide and enforce industry‑standard .NET security practices, ensuring robust security across the platform.
- Experience mentoring intermediate and junior developers, with the confidence, communication skills, and technical depth to grow their capabilities.
- Strong communication and documentation skills, with the ability to explain technical decisions clearly and bring others along.

Preferred Skills (Highly Desirable)

- Experience working with legacy and/or enterprise applications and modernising them incrementally.
- Demonstrated improvements to performance, reliability, scalability, or platform stability.
- Experience working in and contributing to an Agile / DevOps setting.
- A passion for education. You’re motivated by the idea that better tools help schools, teachers, and students do their best work, and you want the work you ship to have that kind of impact.
