Solicitor – Immigration (Litigation), Family & Criminal Law
Full Time | Unrestricted Practising Certificate
About the role
A small, well-established law firm is seeking a full-time solicitor with an unrestricted practising certificate to take carriage of immigration litigation matters. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated practitioner to run their own files, appear on a broad range of matters, and develop across multiple practice areas with genuine support from the principal.
You will primarily handle immigration litigation, and will also work across family law and some criminal law matters under the supervision of the principal. Most matters are briefed to barristers, giving you strong exposure to litigation strategy and advocacy. Full training will be provided in family law and criminal law.
Key responsibilities
- Take carriage of immigration litigation matters from instructions through to hearing.
- Assist with family law matters, with training and mentoring provided.
- Assist with criminal law matters under the direction of the principal, with training provided.
- Prepare court documents, briefs to counsel and correspondence to a high standard.
- Liaise with clients, barristers,
courts and tribunals throughout the life of each matter.
- Manage your own files while working collaboratively within a small, supportive team.
About you
- Admitted to practice with a current unrestricted practising certificate.
- At least 3 years' post-admission experience.
- Solid background in immigration litigation.
- A willingness to learn and develop in family law and criminal law.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, and excellent attention to detail.
- Able to work independently, manage competing deadlines and take ownership of your matters.
What we offer
- Salary of $90,000 plus superannuation - with room to negotiate a higher package for the right experience.
- Hybrid working arrangement: 3 days in the office with the option to work from home.
- Full training and mentoring in family law and criminal law from the principal.
- Exposure to litigation with most matters briefed to barristers.
- A friendly, close-knit team setting within a small firm alongside two other solicitors.
- Genuine opportunity to broaden your practice and take carriage of your own matters.
