About the Role

We are seeking a Health Promotion Officer to support culturally safe cancer prevention, screening, early detection, and health education initiatives across the Ipswich and West Moreton region.

Working closely with community members, internal teams, health professionals, and external stakeholders, this role will help plan, coordinate, deliver, monitor, and evaluate health promotion activities that improve awareness of cancer prevention and support greater participation in screening and follow-up care.

This position will suit someone with experience in health promotion, community engagement, public health, program coordination, or community education who is passionate about improving health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples through culturally safe, community-led practice.

The Role

The Health Promotion Officer will play an important role in delivering culturally protected, evidence-based cancer health promotion initiatives that increase community awareness of prevention,



early detection, screening, and available support pathways.

Key responsibilities include:

Plan, coordinate, deliver, and evaluate culturally appropriate cancer health promotion activities, education sessions, awareness campaigns, and community engagement initiatives

Increase community awareness of cancer prevention, early detection, screening programs, and follow-up care pathways

Build and maintain solid relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, health services, internal teams, and external stakeholders

Support implementation of the Cancer Care Program work plan, program objectives, funding deliverables, and reporting requirements

Develop and deliver health education resources, community presentations, and promotional materials for diverse audiences

Collect, monitor, and report program data, outcomes, participation, and activity measures accurately and within required timeframes

Work collaboratively with clinical and non-clinical teams to improve access to cancer screening, health promotion, follow-up care, and culturally safe support

Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to strengthen program reach, engagement, and outcomes

What You'll Bring

Qualifications in Health Promotion, Public Health, Community Development, Health Sciences,



or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience

Experience in health promotion, community engagement, preventive health, program coordination, or community education

Knowledge of cancer prevention, screening, early detection, health promotion principles, and population health approaches

Experience working respectfully and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities, and organisation

Strong communication, presentation, facilitation, and relationship-building skills.

Demonstrated ability to plan, implement, monitor, and evaluate programs, activities, or community initiatives

Strong organisational, project coordination, time management, data collection, and report writing skills

Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and with external stakeholders

Current Queensland Open C Class Driver Licence

A valid Blue Card / Working with Children Check or willingness to obtain (mandatory)

A current National Police Check or willingness to obtain (mandatory)
