The Hospital

The hospital is a large metropolitan teaching service supporting one of Victoria’s most rapidly expanding communities. The Geriatric Medicine Department delivers specialist care across acute geriatrics, rehabilitation, GEM (Geriatric Evaluation and Management), and Transition Care Program (TCP) services.



At the heart of the service is a modern 30-bed inpatient unit, providing comprehensive multidisciplinary care for older adults with complex medical, functional, and rehabilitation needs. Working closely with allied health, rehabilitation, and community teams, the department is committed to maximising patient independence, promoting safe discharge planning, and improving quality of life for the growing population it serves.
