Position: Part-time Receptionist – Turramurra Veterinary Hospital

This is a reception position like no other, working front-of-house at a well-established veterinary hospital, whereno two days are the same. This position will suit a receptionist who has exceptional customer service skills with a high attention to detail.

We are a 7-vet (full-time equivalent) small animalindependent and family-ownedpractice who love what we do. We have a purpose-built recently renovated modern and well-equipped building with two sterile surgical theatres.

OurCustomer Care Teamconsists of a group of dedicated receptionists who strive to provide a positive customer experience in all their client interactions.

We are located in a pleasant leafy area in Sydney'sUpper North Shore, close to National Parks and around 30 minutes from the city and close to the Northern Beaches.

About the role:

We are looking to fill an opening in our Customer Care Team from winter/spring 2026 with someone who is well-spoken,



withprofessional communication skillsand dedicated to providing a high standard of customer service.This is a position that will be challenging and at times fast-paced. We are looking for someone who can bring apositive, engaging and helpful attitudeto the role and the extended clinical team.

This position is open to applicants looking for a permanent part-time role.

NOTE: We are keen to employ a new Customer Care Team member who is dedicated to a front-of-house role in reception. Please note that this is not a pathway for someone who is looking to pursueVeterinary Nursing.

Currently living in Australia and eligible to work in Australia without restrictions

A minimum of one year’s experience in a customer service role

Ability to take initiative and prioritise tasks accordingly

Passionate about helping people and their pets to provide excellent customer service

Empathic and resilient

Ability to multi-taskand respond quickly to direction when required

Professional communication skills

Reliable and committed work ethic

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment whilst maintaining a positive and calm demeanour amongst our clients and colleagues

Ability to work well in a team and adhere to our practice policies and protocols

Willingness to provide a genuine and personalised service to our clients and their pets

Previous experience in a veterinary/medical/health services receptionist role - not essential!

Familiarity with the veterinary profession

Determination to learn the Open VPMS Veterinary scheduling system - we will teach you!

Own car and driving license





Live within 20 minutes of the practice

Familiarity with or an interest in the local area

Role requirements:

Greeting of clients and their pets and organising waiting room workflow

Coordination, booking of appointments and scheduling optimisation

Management of high-volume email inbox

Liaison between clients and the clinical team

Handling of payments, including till reconciliation

Requesting and forwarding results, samples and other documents

Processing pet insurance claims

Additional office tasks as required

Keeping the front-of-house area hygienic, tidy and presentable at all times

Hours:

Rostered hours will be approximately 20-30 hours per week and will vary from winter to summer and consist of amajority of late shifts with occasional early shifts, depending on our roster requirements, including some rotating weekend work.

Shift length may vary but our standard shift length is generally 7.5 hours (varying from 3 - 7.5 hours) and it is important that you are fairly flexible, dependent on our practice requirements.

The hours we particularly need to cover are our closing shifts, which are either 2-7pm or 3-8pm, though may start earlier or later depending on demand (we especially require cover on Wednesday evenings). There may be occasional early morning shifts required to cover employee leave or open shifts. Additionally, your roster would include a minimum of 1 in 4 weekend day shifts (either a Saturday or a Sunday, not both). Hours may be increased over time by mutual agreement.

Our practice’s opening hours:

Weekdays:

7am – 7pm (non-daylight savings)

7am – 8pm (daylight savings)

Saturdays:

7am – 4pm

Sundays & Public Holidays:

(closed Christmas Day & Boxing Day)

9am – 3pm

Remuneration:

Starting salary will be commensurate with experience and reviewed on a regular basis via performance appraisals.

Probationary period:

Please note there is a probationary period of 6 months.
