Liverpool Womens Health Centre – Fairfield NSW

Fairfield Women's Health Centre (FWHC) has been delivering quality health services to improve the lives of women in the Fairfield Local Government Area. We are a non-government, not for profit, multi-disciplinary and holistic health service run by women for women.

FWHC offers a broad range of client centered, evidence based, primary and preventative health care services and programs, which aim to improve the health and wellbeing of women residing in the Fairfield Local Government Area, with particular emphasis on the local migrant, refugee and disadvantaged community.

FWHCoperates from a feminist perspective, under a social model of health where service provision is based on principles of social justice and an understanding of a gendered approach to health.

The Generalist Social Worker position is responsible for:

Casework

- Provide short- to medium-term casework and support coordination.
- Provide support, advocacy, information and referral services both in person and over the telephone, including accompanying clients to relevant services as required.
- Provide clients with case plans following an evidence-based risk and needs assessment of their situation.
- Empower clients to keep themselves and their families secure.

Counselling

- Provide short- to medium-term counselling to women, responding to a range of presenting issues including complex health issues and trauma.
- Provide clients with treatment plans and clinical interventions following an evidence-based risk and needs assessment of their situation.
- Provide support, advocacy, information and referral services both in person and over the telephone to women in crisis or emotional distress.
- Develop, deliver and evaluate therapeutic and support groups and one-off information sessions as required, based on evidence‑based practice and continuous improvement.
- Apply trauma‑informed, evidence‑based therapeutic approaches and maintain accurate clinical case notes in line with professional and organisational standards.
- Participate in clinical supervision relevant to counselling practice.

Shared Responsibilities

- Build and maintain partnerships with relevant stakeholders throughout South Western Sydney.
- Assist with, support and further develop/document internal referral processes and pathways to ensure women receive relevant,



purposeful and empowered access to all of the holistic interdisciplinary services available at FWHC.
- Facilitate, develop, deliver and evaluate workshops, groups and one-off information sessions as required.
- Attend relevant forums and meetings in consultation with the FWHC Operations Manager.
- Research, gather and analyse relevant data and information concerning clients using the service for planning, evaluation and reporting purposes.
- Prepare written and statistical reports of service usage on a quarterly basis and in response to funding body requirements as required.

General Duties

- Attend and actively participate in staff meetings, relevant professional development and in‑service training, strategic planning and review sessions, supervision and performance management.
- Demonstrate professional behaviour to clients, staff, management and staff in other service systems. This includes recognising and respecting the different cultural and ethnic backgrounds of all women who use the centre
- Comply with FWHC's code of conduct, information and data collection, quality improvement, risk management, record keeping and administrative practices of the organisation.
- Provide effective, efficient and timely services in a manner consistent with organisational philosophy, the state's legislative and policy framework, organisational policies & procedures, service agreements and other legal requirements.
- Collaborate on additional tasks or projects as identified in consultation with or directed by the Manager, ensuring the betterment of the organisation.
- Tertiary qualification in social work (or a related discipline such as social welfare, psychology, counselling or community services) that includes counselling-specific coursework (e.g. counselling skills, therapeutic interventions, or a counselling specialisation), and/or equivalent clinical experience, enabling the incumbent to provide both casework and counselling services.




- Demonstrated experience in case management and counselling with women who have experienced trauma.
- Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with vulnerable women from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds and all ages.
- An understanding of the NSW and Federal government service systems, community and health sector referral systems and demonstrated ability to navigate them on behalf of clients.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, deliver, evaluate and report on projects.
- Strong interpersonal communication ability, including well‑developed written and oral communication/facilitation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work holistically and effectively as part of a multi‑disciplinary team.
- High level of energy, enthusiasm, reliability, resilience and flexibility.
- Demonstrated administrative and organisational skills including computer literacy, data entry and record keeping.
- A demonstrated commitment to feminist principles and practice and knowledge of women's health issues.
- Established registration with Victims Services and/or Medicare to provide counselling services and pathways.
- Established knowledge and understanding of the South Western Sydney service system and its networks and communities.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate bilingually, with priority given to languages commonly spoken in the Fairfield community (Arabic, Assyrian, Vietnamese).
- Driver's license and own vehicle.

Salary paid under the SCHCADS Award level 5 with pay point to be negotiated depending on qualifications and experience.
