THE POSITION:

This position is required to provide maintenance assistance and undertake labouring works within the Wagirra and Natural Areas Teams and other areas across the City Landscapes portfolio as required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- To assist in the development and maintenance of Wagirra and Natural Areas projects by providing knowledge and demonstrated skills in civil construction, conservation and land management and maintenance activities including revegetation, weed control, concreting, earthworks, trail construction and general maintenance of natural areas.
- To assist in the maintenance and planting of revegetation areas.
- Assist in development and environmental restoration projects across the citys natural areas, reserves and landscapes.
- Use all plant and equipment in a protected and competent manner.
- Ensure all routine maintenance to plant and equipment is carried out.
- Use relevant skills to assist other areas across AlburyCity when required.
- Perform other tasks or duties as directed by the Supervisor which are within the limits of the employees skill, competence and training.
- Observe requirements of the WHS Legislation, relevant to the job and adhere to AlburyCity Policies and Procedures regarding WHS.
- Observe appropriate AlburyCity Policies and Procedures regarding day to day operations including Equal Employment Opportunity policies,



AlburyCitys Dress Code and Standards Policy and AlburyCitys Code of Conduct.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

- Proof of Aboriginality from a qualified Aboriginal Organisation
- Class C drivers licence
- Construction Induction Card

DESIRABLE CRITERIA:

- Traffic Controllers Certificate (Blue Card) or equivalent
- Medium Rigid (MR) Drivers Licence (compulsory to have and maintain)
- AQF - 3 Chemical Handling Certificate or equivalent
- Chainsaw - Trim and crosscut (Level 1)
- Basic Wildfire Awareness or Prescribed Burning Competency

EXPERIENCE:

- Relevant natural resource management and/or horticulture industry experience

SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

- A sound knowledge of small plant operation, revegetation techniques and herbicide application techniques and herbicide application
- Experience and demonstrated ability in operating various plant, which may include trucks (Medium Rigid Drivers Licence), tipping trucks, front end loaders and skid steer loaders
- A sound understanding and competence in the following:Setting levels, string lines and work layoutReading plans and interpret diagramsConstruction techniquesConservation and land management projectsDemonstrated knowledge of all WHS requirements and practicesFundamental skills in literacy and numeracyFundamental skills
