At Southern Highland Motor Group, we believe great workshops are built by great people. As an award-winning Service Department, we're committed to delivering exceptional customer service, quality workmanship, and creating a workplace where our team can thrive.

Due to the continued growth and success of our business, we're looking for an experienced Workshop Controller to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in the day-to-day operation of our busy dealership workshop, ensuring work flows efficiently, our technicians are supported, and every customer receives the outstanding service they have come to expect from Southern Highland Motor Group.

About the Role

As our Workshop Controller, you will be responsible for coordinating the daily workflow of the workshop, ensuring jobs are allocated efficiently, productivity targets are achieved, and customer commitments are consistently met.

Working closely with our Service Advisors and Workshop Manager, you'll be the link that keeps the workshop operating at its best. From managing repair progress and prioritising work to ensuring every vehicle is completed, quality checked, and ready before customer pick-up, you'll play a vital role in delivering an exceptional customer experience.

This is a hands‑on leadership role. We're looking for someone who leads by example, enjoys working as part of a team, and isn't afraid to roll up their sleeves and get their hands dirty when required.

Key Responsibilities

- Coordinate the daily workflow of technicians to maximise productivity and workshop efficiency.
- Work closely with the Service Advisors and Workshop Manager to prioritise and manage repair orders.
- Monitor job progress and ensure all work is completed within agreed timeframes.
- Ensure all repairs, servicing, quality control checks,

and documentation are completed prior to customer vehicle collection.
- Support technicians with workflow management and technical guidance where required.
- Maintain a safe, organised, and high‑performing workshop environment.
- Identify opportunities to improve workshop efficiency and operational performance.
- Help deliver exceptional customer satisfaction through effective planning and communication.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- A current Automotive Trade Qualification (Motor Mechanic).
- Previous experience as a Workshop Controller, Foreman, Leading Hand, or Senior Technician within a dealership environment.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
- Solid leadership skills with the confidence to make decisions.
- A willingness to jump in and assist the team whenever required—you lead from the front and aren't afraid to get your hands dirty.

Why Join Southern Highland Motor Group?

At Southern Highland Motor Group, you're joining more than just a dealership—you're joining a team that genuinely values its people. We take pride in recognising hard work, investing in our employees, and providing opportunities for long‑term growth opportunities.

We offer:

- A competitive remuneration package.
- The opportunity to work within an award-winning Service Department.
- Ongoing manufacturer and professional development training.
- Modern workshop facilities and equipment.
- A supportive leadership team and positive workplace culture.
- Stable, long‑term employment with one of the Southern Highlands' leading automotive dealerships.
- The opportunity to make a genuine impact in a growing and successful business.

If you're an experienced automotive professional looking to take ownership of workshop operations, lead from the front, and become part of an award-winning team, we'd love to hear from you.
