Petuna is seeking an experienced and driven Manager to lead our Rowella marine farming operations. Reporting to the General Manager Aquaculture for the Petuna Sealord Group, this critical leadership role has a seat on the Aquaculture Leadership Team. The Farm Manager - Rowella is responsible for the safe, productive, and sustainable production of salmon, delivering against fish health and welfare, quality, harvest, compliance, and financial targets.

You will lead an experienced and high-performing team and oversee all aspects of marine operations, ensuring Rowella continues to operate safely, sustainably, and in line with strategic business objectives.

About the Role

As Rowella Farm Manager, you will provide overall operational leadership for the Rowella site, overseeing fish production cycles, budgets, infrastructure, regulatory compliance, and workforce performance.

You will work closely with key stakeholders across health and safety, hatchery, production, fish health and welfare, planning, environment, finance, and supply partners to optimise operational outcomes and support Petuna's long-term strategic goals.

You will be a member of our collaborative Aquaculture Leadership Team, directly contributing to Petuna’s operational and commercial culture, as well as our strategic direction.

Key Responsibilities

- Champion a positive safety culture and lead by example.
- Ensure the Rowella WHS Management Plan is maintained and effectively implemented.
- Drive hazard, incident, and near-miss reporting across the site.
- Ensure critical risks are identified and effectively managed.
- Lead corrective and preventative action programs and maintain strong WHS performance.

Leadership & People Development

- Lead, coach and develop the Rowella management team.
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure performance management, training, and development plans are in place and actively managed.

Production & Fish Health





- Deliver annual harvest volume and quality targets.
- Oversee production planning and performance across the marine farming operation.
- Ensure fish health programs, monitoring plans, and biosecurity measures are maintained to best-practice standards and regulatory requirements.

Feed & Feeding Performance

- Develop and implement feeding strategies to optimise fish growth and feed conversion.
- Work collaboratively with fish performance specialists and feed suppliers to maximise production outcomes.
- Drive continual improvement in feeding systems, regimes, and efficiencies.

Compliance, Sustainability & Accreditation

- Ensure compliance with all farming lease and licence conditions.
- Lead site HACCP activities and accreditation requirements.
- Maintain third-party certifications and sustainability standards, including BAP and ASC accreditation.
- Oversee environmental monitoring programs and compliance activities.

Asset Management & Budget Control

- Ensure all infrastructure, vessels, equipment, and assets remain safe, reliable, and fit for purpose.
- Develop and manage operational and capital expenditure budgets.
- Deliver cost-effective operational outcomes while maintaining production and safety standards.
- Contribute to annual business planning and long-term strategic development.
- Develop production profiles, operational plans, and infrastructure requirements to support future growth.
- Provide monthly operational reporting to the GM Marine Operations.

About You

You are a proven aquaculture leader with a passion for operational excellence, people leadership, fish welfare, and sustainable farming practices.





- Minimum five years' experience managing salmon farming operations and leading aquaculture teams.
- Strong leadership capability with experience managing multidisciplinary teams.
- Detailed knowledge of salmon production systems, fish health, feeding programs, biosecurity, environmental management, and regulatory compliance.
- Demonstrated ability to analyse production and financial data to drive operational performance.
- Strong planning, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced computer and reporting skills.

Qualifications

Relevant tertiary qualification in Aquaculture, Marine Science, Agriculture, Business, or a related field preferred; or equivalent industry experience.
