Senior Project Manager – Finance ERP & Transformation (SAP/ Oracle/ Workday)

About the Position:

This isn’t a traditional project management role.

It’s about leading the future design of government finance capability before technology is implemented.

Working within a major enterprise transformation program, you’ll lead the planning, governance and delivery of the future-state finance operating model, bringing together finance, business and project specialists to define how finance processes, controls and systems will support long-term organisational outcomes.

You’ll work across complex government stakeholder groups, ensuring future business processes, financial controls and system requirements align with legislative obligations, accounting standards and operational needs. This is a role where project leadership extends well beyond delivery-requiring strategic thinking, governance discipline and the ability to build consensus across a broad range of stakeholders.

What You’ll Do:

- Lead the planning, governance and delivery of future-state finance transformation activities across a major ERP program.
- Develop and manage integrated project plans, governance frameworks, milestones and program reporting.
- Lead a multidisciplinary team to define future finance capabilities, business processes and supporting documentation.




- Engage with senior stakeholders to drive alignment across finance, business and technology while ensuring quality outcomes throughout delivery.

What We Are Looking For:

- Demonstrated experience delivering large-scale government finance transformation projects, ideally across multiple finance domains.
- Strong understanding of government financial management, accounting standards, budgeting, reporting and finance operating models.
- Proven project leadership experience using structured methodologies such as **PRINCE2**, with an understanding of **Managing Successful Programmes (MSP)**.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, facilitation and governance skills, with the ability to influence decision-making across complex environments.

A Quick Note Before You Apply:

This role is unlikely to suit project managers whose experience has been focused primarily on technology delivery without significant exposure to finance transformation, government financial management or future-state operating model design.

Success in this role requires balancing project leadership with finance domain expertise, governance and stakeholder engagement to deliver sustainable transformation outcomes across a highly complex government environment.

This is a hybrid Canberra-based engagement supporting a major finance transformation program. Australian Citizenship is required. to undergo the ACT Government security vetting process. No existing security clearance is required.
