We are seeking a talented Designer and Estimator to join the team at Genneral Staircase. This is a full-time position based in our Wetherill Park, NSW office. In this role, you will play a crucial part in translating client visions into practical, beautiful staircase designs whilst providing accurate cost estimations for projects. You will work at the intersection of creativity and precision, ensuring that every design is not only aesthetically pleasing but also commercially viable and technically sound.

What you'll be doing

- Create detailed and innovative staircase designs tailored to client specifications and site requirements
- Produce technical drawings and 3D visualisations to present design concepts to clients and internal teams
- Conduct site assessments and measurements to inform design decisions and ensure feasibility
- Develop accurate cost estimates and quotations based on materials, labour, and project scope
- Liaise with clients to understand their requirements, preferences and budget constraints
- Collaborate with production and installation teams to ensure designs are practical and efficiently manufactured
- Stay updated with industry trends, materials and building codes relevant to staircase design
- Review and refine designs based on client feedback and technical constraints
- Maintain detailed project documentation and design specifications

What we're looking for

- Proven experience in design and estimation, preferably within the staircase, construction or architectural industry
- Proficiency with design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp or similar CAD programmes
- Strong knowledge of building codes, safety standards and material properties relevant to staircase construction
- Previous experience with StairBiz or similar products




- Excellent understanding of spatial design, geometry and technical drawing principles
- Demonstrated ability to create accurate cost estimates and quotations
- Strong communication and presentation skills to effectively convey designs to clients and stakeholders
- Attention to detail with a commitment to precision in both design and estimation
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt designs to meet practical and commercial requirements
- A relevant qualification in design, architecture, engineering or a related field is highly desirable
