Using specialised triage systems, you will assess patient needs, deliver health advice, and connect people with the most appropriate care pathway.
The Team Join Ambulance Tasmania's Secondary Triage Service, a dedicated team of experienced clinicians committed to delivering the right care, at the right time, in the right place. Using advanced clinical expertise, evidence-based triage systems and strong partnerships across the health sector, the team assesses patient needs, provides expert health advice, and connects people with the most appropriate care pathway. Working in a collaborative and supportive environment, our clinicians play a vital role in improving patient outcomes, enhancing service efficiency, and contributing to continuous quality and safety improvements across the Tasmanian healthcare system.
The Role Conduct structured call taking procedures using multiple technology platforms, including an approved medical triaging software system to assess triple zero callers who have conditions that may not require emergency ambulance attendance. Refer patients-callers to the most appropriate-available service, as per the recommendations of the triaging software system and AT policy, procedures and work instructions, to ensure the best possible outcome for the patient-caller. Provide expert health advice to the patient-caller where appropriate.
You will need Demonstrated high level interpersonal,
negotiating and influencing skills to gain acceptance of ideas and the ability to adapt to accommodate constantly changing situations and individuals. Demonstrated high level verbal and written communication skills and the ability to be clear, concise and accurate when both collecting and conveying complex information. Demonstrated ability to effectively identify and apply an advanced level of clinical judgement to respond respectfully and compassionately to the needs of patients, relatives and other stakeholders.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies. Salary $118,297 to $125,543 per annum (Pro rata).
Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023. In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available: Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type Salary Packaging
