With over 60 employees across field and office operations and an expanding offshore support team, ASG is entering its next phase of growth and is seeking an experienced Company Accountant with strong HR and compliance capabilities to support our leadership team.
About the Role
Reporting directly to the Commercial Manager, this is a hands‑on role responsible for the end-to-end finance function, HR administration and compliance management.
This role suits a commercially minded accountant who enjoys working across multiple disciplines, improving systems and processes, and partnering with operational leaders to drive business performance.

Key Responsibilities
Finance & Accounting
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes
- Prepare accruals, prepayments, journals and balance sheet reconciliations
- Maintain general ledger integrity and financial controls
- Prepare monthly management accounts and board reports
- Cash flow forecasting and working capital management
- Assist Operations teams with budgeting and financial planning
- Liaise with external accountants, auditors, banks and advisers
- Support project accounting and WIP reporting
Human Resources
- Ensure compliance with Awards, Enterprise Agreements and Fair Work requirements
- Manage onboarding and offboarding processes
- Coordinate employment contracts and personnel records
- Support recruitment activities and workforce planning
- Manage performance review administration
Compliance & Risk
- Manage WorkCover administration and claims
- Coordinate vehicle, plant and insurance registers
- Maintain contractor and employee compliance records
- Manage licences, certifications and training compliance
- Support ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 systems
- Assist with internal and external audits
About You
You will be a proactive professional who enjoys taking ownership and working closely with senior leadership.
Essential
- Bachelor Degree in Accounting, Commerce or Finance
- CPA or CA qualified (or nearing completion)
- Minimum 5 years Australian accounting experience
- Strong understanding of Australian payroll, GST, PAYG and compliance requirements
- Experience managing month-end reporting and reconciliations
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience with MYOB Advanced, Xero or similar ERP systems
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Highly Desirable
- Experience in construction, civil, maintenance or contracting industries
- HR administration and payroll management experience
- WorkCover and compliance management experience
- Experience working with offshore teams
- Exposure to project accounting and job costing
