We're looking for a Returns & Sales Assistant to join our team at Brendale head office. The role sits within our Warranty/After-Sales department and is focused mainly on processing and assessing customer returns, with some time supporting our showroom sales team on the floor. Builders Discount Warehouse operates three stores across South East Queensland plus an online store selling bathroom, kitchen and building products Australia-wide.
What you'll be doing
- Process and assess customer returns at the Brendale front counter — fault, damage, or change of mind
- Carry out hands-on technical checks on returned products (tapware, hardware, fittings and similar) to help determine cause of fault
- Apply BDW returns policy and Australian Consumer Law guarantees correctly and consistently
- Liaise with suppliers and the warranty team to progress claims
- Pitch in on the showroom floor and support sales consultants during busy periods
- Handle customer enquiries by phone and in person with a level head
What you'll need
- Technical or mechanical aptitude — a trade background or hands‑on experience with plumbing, hardware or building products is highly regarded
- Some retail, trade counter or customer service experience
- Confidence handling face-to-face conversations, including the occasional difficult one
- An eye for detail and comfort working within set policies and compliance requirements
- Ability to lift and handle product as part of the role
- Available to work Tuesday to Saturday
