The Opportunity
Due to continued growth and our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of operational excellence, we are seeking an experienced Safety & Compliance Manager to join our team.
This newly created role will be instrumental in developing, implementing, and leading our safety and compliance framework, with broader quality and environmental responsibilities forming a supporting part of the role, ensuring we protect our people, meet all regulatory obligations, and continue to deliver projects safely and successfully.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve the company's WHS (Work Health & Safety) management system in compliance with the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (Qld), relevant interstate WHS requirements, ISO 45001 principles, and industry codes of practice
- Lead risk management processes across fabrication, site installation, commissioning, and maintenance activities (including high-risk work in heavy industrial environments)
- Conduct and oversee safety audits, inspections, incident investigations, and root cause analysis
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, standards,
and client requirements (including those related to hazardous chemicals, confined spaces, working at heights, electrical safety, and plant/equipment)
- Develop and deliver safety training programs, inductions, and toolbox talks
- Manage contractor safety compliance, site safety plans, and SWMS (Safe Work Method Statements)
- Champion a proactive, positive safety culture across all levels of the organisation
- Prepare and maintain required safety documentation and reporting for internal and external stakeholders where required
- Manage client safety portal compliance to maintain site access for field staff
- Liaise with regulators and clients on safety and compliance matters
About You
- Proven experience (5+ years) in a similar Safety / WHS / Compliance role within engineering, manufacturing, construction, or heavy industrial sectors (materials handling, mining, water treatment, or concrete industries highly regarded)
- Strong working knowledge of Australian WHS legislation, codes of practice, and relevant Australian Standards
- Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety or higher (Diploma of WHS or equivalent highly regarded) – essential
- Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence at all levels
- Practical, hands‑on approach combined with strong attention to detail
- Current driver's licence and willingness to travel occasionally to project sites across QLD and interstate
