About the Opportunity

This is an opportunity to step into a broad and influential Safety Manager role, with a focus on HVNL, where you will lead the organisation’s safety function and partner closely with senior leadership to strengthen safety performance, governance and operational risk management.

You will have an innovative approach, transport and logistics experience and play a key role in shaping safety culture, driving compliance and ensuring robust systems and controls are embedded across transport and operational environments.

About the Role

Reporting to the General Manager - Safety Risk & Compliance, you will oversee the organisation’s HVNL and safety framework across governance, compliance, investigations, assurance, training and behavioural risk programmes.

This role combines strategic oversight with hands-on operational engagement, requiring someone who can confidently influence leaders, coach teams and maintain strong visibility across the business.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and develop the proactive safety and compliance function
- Oversee WHS management systems and continuous improvement initiatives
- Drive HVNL and Chain of Responsibility compliance activities
- Manage critical risk frameworks and control assurance processes
- Lead incident management and investigation oversight
- Coordinate internal and external audits and corrective actions
- Oversee driver safety, behavioural risk and training programmes
- Prepare detailed safety reporting and performance insights
- Support operational leaders with risk-based safety advice
- Maintain relationships with regulators,



insurers and external stakeholders

About You and What You Will Bring

Must have HVNL knowledge and practical experience.

You are a practical and commercially minded safety leader who thrives in operational environments. You know how to balance governance and compliance requirements with real-world operational demands and can influence positive outcomes through strong communication and credibility.

You will be the type of person who enjoys working within an organisation who strives to lead the way within their industry – so bring your innovative solutions and approach and proactively build relationships, lead teams and drive continuous improvement - while maintaining a clear focus on critical risks and business priorities.

- Sound knowledge of WHS legislation, HVNL and Chain of Responsibility
- Experience in investigations, audits, risk management and assurance
- Strong reporting, analytical and stakeholder engagement capability
- Hands on ability to lead teams and influence operational leaders
- Experience within transport, logistics or heavy vehicle operations is advantageous
- Diploma or higher qualification in WHS or related discipline preferred
