We're Alignr, a modern recruitment partner helping ambitious businesses hire smarter and scale faster.
This time we're partnering exclusively with a fast-growing environmental construction and landscape business in Sydney's northwest. Four years old, $15M turnover, targeting $20M, with 5-year maintenance contracts already locked in providing real pipeline stability. This is not a startup. This is a business with systems, momentum and a clear growth trajectory.
Work is getting more complex. Projects have grown from $100k to $2M+. The business now needs a senior leader to sit between the Director and the project teams on the ground, someone who takes ownership of the entire construction operation and is ready to grow into the GM role within 2-3 years.
Are you looking for...
- A role where you genuinely own the operation, not just manage a piece of it?
- A clear and explicit pathway to become General Manager within 2-3 years?
- A business that backs systems, process and accountability above all else?
- Flexibility based on outcomes, not where you sit Monday to Friday?
- A Director who has built something real and wants someone to eventually take it over?
What's in it for you
- Up to $200,000 Base
- Super
- Fully maintained company vehicle (New Ford Ranger) for personal and business use
- fuel card
- etag
- profit share
- Flexible working, roughly 3 days in office as a minimum driven by what the role needs, not a set rule

- 5-year maintenance contracts already in place with major developers providing genuine pipeline stability
- $7M of construction work currently being negotiated for this financial year
- A business targeting growth
- Work directly with a systems-driven engineer who has built a genuinely impressive operation
The company
This is an environmental construction and landscape business delivering commercial landscape, ecological restoration, civil works and maintenance programs across Sydney. Four years old and already turning over $15M, with five-year contracts locked in with major developers like Stocklands covering the maintenance pipeline for the next four years.
Projects have evolved from small council jobs to $2M+ contracts with direct council and developer relationships. The business runs on systems. Every process, every quality check,
every ITP has a reason behind it. The Director comes from an engineering background and this shows in how the business operates.
- The level of systems already in place
- How relentless the culture is about following them. That is the standard here.
The team
You will report directly to the Director and have responsibility for the QSE Manager and 2-3 Construction Project Managers as direct reports, with fractional HR also moving into the reporting line.
This is not a business where you hide behind a title. You are expected to take ownership as if it is your own business, because in 2-3 years, the plan is that you largely run it.

- Has led and grown teams from 20 to 50 headcount
- Commercial landscape or civil engineering background preferred
- Someone who understands that systems and accountability are non-negotiable
- Meticulous and systematic, an executor who follows and enforces processes, not a creative who wants to reinvent everything
- Commercially aware, able to read numbers, manage P&L; and understand the financial side of a construction business
- Strong personal brand, someone who takes ownership as if it is their own business
- Growth mindset, ready to help build something, not just maintain the status quo
- Leadership qualifications such as Cert IV or Diploma in Leadership/Management highly regarded
Who this isn't for
- People who have been in the same $10M business for 5+ years without growth and are comfortable maintaining the status quo

- Anyone who needs certainty and predictability over agility and growth
- People who want a title without the accountability that comes with it
