We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Scientist to join a high-performing data and analytics team delivering impactful AI, machine learning, and advanced analytics solutions within a complex and highly secure environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and delivery of advanced analytics, machine learning, AI, and Large Language Model (LLM) solutions.
- Design and implement statistically robust models including predictive, classification, forecasting, and causal inference models.
- Own the end-to-end data science lifecycle from problem definition through to deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
- Apply advanced statistical techniques, experimental design methodologies, and hypothesis testing frameworks.
- Develop and optimise machine learning models using supervised and unsupervised learning techniques.
- Design deep learning solutions using CNNs, RNNs, and transformer-based architectures where appropriate.
- Conduct model testing, validation, performance monitoring, and governance activities.
- Work closely with stakeholders to translate business challenges into actionable analytical solutions.
- Present analytical findings and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Mentor and support analysts and junior data scientists.
- Collaborate with data engineering and platform teams to deploy scalable production-ready solutions.
Required Skills & Experience
- 8+ years of experience in Data Science, Machine Learning, Advanced Analytics, or Applied Research.
- Strong expertise in statistics, predictive modelling, and experimental design.
- Proven experience delivering end-to-end data science and machine learning solutions.
- Hands-on experience with AI and Large Language Models (LLMs).
- Expert-level Python programming skills, including:
- NumPy
- Pandas
- Scikit-learn
- PyTorch and/or TensorFlow
- Advanced SQL skills with experience working across complex datasets.
- Experience with machine learning techniques including:
- Regression
- Classification
- Clustering
- Ensemble methods
- Feature engineering
- Model optimisation
- Strong understanding of MLOps/AIOps, model validation, and monitoring practices.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to business stakeholders.
Highly Desirable
- Master’s or PhD in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative discipline.
- Experience working with large-scale, sensitive, or secure datasets.
- Exposure to graph analytics, knowledge graphs, or graph databases.
- Previous experience within government, public sector, defence, law enforcement, or other highly regulated environments.
