Indigeco is supporting a First Nations organisation to source an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Redress Caseworker for a permanent full-time opportunity.

This is an identified position, and applicants must identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As the Redress Caseworker, you will provide culturally appropriate, trauma-informed support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients engaging with the National Redress Scheme. You will guide clients throughout the redress process, advocate on their behalf where appropriate, coordinate referrals to specialist services, and build trusted relationships with communities and service providers. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting healing, empowering survivors, and strengthening community wellbeing. You will manage your own caseload while working collaboratively within a supportive and culturally respectful team. Regular travel across NSW forms part of the role.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Provide culturally safe, trauma-informed case management and support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients.
- Guide clients through the National Redress Scheme application process and assist with completing documentation and gathering supporting evidence.
- Provide clear information about the National Redress Scheme and available support services.
- Coordinate referrals to legal, financial, counselling and other community support services.
- Advocate for clients and, where requested,



act as their nominee when engaging with the National Redress Scheme.
- Build and maintain robust relationships with Aboriginal communities, Elders, community organisations and government stakeholders.
- Deliver community outreach and promote awareness of available support services.
- Manage a diverse caseload while maintaining accurate case notes, client records and reporting requirements.
- Participate in case reviews, clinical supervision and ongoing professional development.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

- Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person who is accepted as such by the community in which they live or have lived.
- Qualifications in Social Work, Community Services, Counselling or a related discipline.
- Experience working in trauma-informed case management, social services or a similar community-based role.
- Demonstrated understanding of the ongoing impacts of the Stolen Generations, institutional care and historical government policies on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
- Experience supporting individuals who have experienced complex trauma, family separation or institutional care will be highly regarded.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage sensitively with clients, families and communities.
- Ability to manage a varied caseload while maintaining accurate documentation and meeting reporting requirements.
- Strong organisational skills, sound judgement and a compassionate, client-centred approach.
- Current NSW Driver Licence, Working with Children Check, National Criminal History Check and First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
