About the role:

Make a meaningful difference at a critical time in people’s lives. Join The Buttery and play a pivotal role in connecting people with the alcohol and other drug (AOD) and mental health support they need. As the first point of contact for many participants, you will help ensure people are welcomed, assessed and connected to the right services with compassion, professionalism and a trauma-informed approach.

Reporting to the Clinical Director, the Intake Coordinator leads the Intake and Assessment team while ensuring timely, responsive and high-quality intake, screening and assessment processes. You will manage referrals and enquiries, undertake biopsychosocial and risk assessments, provide brief intervention and crisis support, coordinate participant admissions, and support our Intake Officers in their day-to-day work. You'll have the opportunity to:

- Provide brief intervention and crisis counselling support.
- Coordinate referrals and maintain strong relationships with participants, families, carers, GPs, community organisations and other stakeholders.
- Manage waiting lists, service allocations and participant admissions.
- Monitor intake service operations, rostering and reporting requirements.

Hours and location:

The hours are 35 per week. The role is predominantly onsite at Binna Burra, near Bangalow. A versatile arrangement of one working from home day per week is available, ensuring continued in-person support for staff. The role is funded until 30th June 2027 with strong potential for extension.

About you:





You are an experienced clinician and leader who can engage effectively with people experiencing mental health concerns, psychological distress and AOD-related challenges. You bring robust assessment skills, sound clinical judgement and a commitment to recovery-oriented, trauma-informed care.

Selection criteria

- 1. Degree level qualification(s) or above in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling, Mental health or Mental Health Nursing
- 2. Current driver's licence, a satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Working with Children Check,
- 3. Demonstrated experience in staff management
- 4. Substantial experience working in an intake and assessment role with the ability to engage effectively with participants in crisis and provide appropriate trauma-informed support
- 5. Solid understanding of current intervention models in the AOD and Mental health field with the ability to support best practice
- 6. Demonstrated proficiency using the Microsoft suite and a variety of databases

This role will be remunerated at SCHCDS Level 5 ($53.43-55.85ph) with access to salary packaging to potentially increase your take home pay by another 5k.
