About the Role As the Environmental Advisor on theNorth WestTransmission Developments (NWTD) project,you'llprovide hands-on, site-based environmental support to help deliver one of Tasmania's most significant energy infrastructure programs. Reporting to the Environmental Manager,you'llwork closely with construction teams and subcontractors to implement project environmental requirements,install,maintainand auditcontrols in the fieldtoensure compliance withproject requirements,permitsand legislation.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives on practical problem-solving, enjoys being out on site, and can confidentlyengage withcrews to achieve strong environmental outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Field Environmental Compliance & Assurance:

- Support the Environmental Manager to implement andmaintainthe Construction Environmental Management Plan (CEMP) and relevant sub-plans in line with NWTD staging and construction sequencing.
- Conduct routine site inspectionsto verifyenvironmental controls are installedand effectiveacross activities such as earthworks, access tracks, vegetation clearing, spoil management, watercourse works, and reinstatement.
- Providepractical advice onenvironmental management techniques such aserosion & sediment control,ground and surfacewater management, noise, vibration and dust managementandpollution prevention.
- Assistwithmaintainingenvironmentalmonitoring andcompliance registers, spatial/environmental constraint data (e.g., no-go zones), and approval-condition tracking.

Monitoring, Incident Response & Reporting:





- support the development of and conductmonitoringand inspectionprogramsfor environmentalmanagementtechniques employed by the project.
- Respond to andassistin the investigation of environmental incidents and near misses, helping prepare reports and supporting close-out of corrective actions.
- Prepare weekly/monthly environmental reports, dashboards, inspection records and supporting documentation.

Stakeholder & Specialist Coordination:

- Support respectful, compliant engagement with Traditional Owners, landowners, clientrepresentativesand regulators, including attending surveys/inspections whererequired.
- Coordinate day-to-day site needs withcontractors(e.g., ecologists, fauna spotters, heritage specialists) as directed by the Environmental Manager.
- Assistin the response to community complaints byprovidingtechnical advice to the stakeholder teams.

Training & Culture:

- Deliver environmental toolbox talks/briefings and support project inductions to embed "how we work" environmental expectations on NWTD.
- Champion Genus values and contribute to strong SHEQ outcomes through participation in pre-starts,auditsand inspections.

Skills & Experience Required

- 4+ years' experience in an environmentalrole within construction, utilities, linearinfrastructureor major projects.
- Strong working knowledge of environmental compliance in construction, includinglarge scale erosion and sediment management,groundwater and surface water qualitymanagement,contaminated land/spoil management,waste tracking/management.
- Demonstratedexperience supporting approvals/permitcondition compliance, contractor coaching, inspections, and incident investigation/reporting.




- Confidenceoperatingin a field-based role, influencing site teams and subcontractors through practical, solutions-focused guidance.
- Solid reporting capability and competence with Microsoft Office and site reporting systems.

Qualifications / Tickets

- Degree in Environmental Science/Engineering (or related).
- White Card, current driver's licence, and ability to obtain/hold relevant clearances asrequired.

Desirable

- Exposure to ISO 14001-aligned environmental management systems and audit readiness.
- Experience on transmission line/linear infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with Tasmanian permitting interfaces (flora/fauna handling permits, threatened species considerations, etc.).
