Job Description
Rocky 1 Pty Ltd The Housekeeping Manager is responsible for leading the Housekeeping department to ensure all guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness, presentation, and safety. This role oversees daily operations, staff performance, training, rostering, inventory management, and quality control. The Housekeeping Manager plays a key leadership role in delivering exceptional guest experiences, driving departmental efficiency, and fostering a positive, qualified, and service-focused team culture.

Leadership & Department Management
- Lead, motivate, and support the Housekeeping team to achieve high standards of cleanliness and service.
- Oversee daily operations, ensuring all rooms and public areas are serviced within required timeframes.
- Conduct daily briefings, communicating priorities, events, VIP arrivals, and operational updates.
- Manage rosters, leave requests, and staffing levels to meet business demands.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and performance management of Housekeeping staff.
Quality Assurance & Inspections
- Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces.
- Ensure all cleaning standards, presentation guidelines, and brand requirements are consistently met.
- Identify areas requiring corrective action and ensure follow-up is completed promptly.
- Oversee spring-cleaning, deep-cleaning, and preventative maintenance schedules.
Guest Experience
- Respond to guest feedback, requests, and concerns professionally and promptly.
- Coordinate special requests, VIP amenities,
and room preferences with relevant departments.
- Work closely with Front Office to ensure accurate room status communication and smooth operations.
- Monitor guest satisfaction scores and implement improvements where required.
Administration & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records including checklists, inspection reports, inventories, and staff documentation.
- Manage departmental budgets, cost controls, and purchasing of linen, chemicals, and supplies.
- Ensure stock levels are maintained and wastage is minimised.
- Prepare reports for management on productivity, performance, and operational issues.
Maintenance, Security & Compliance
- Report maintenance issues promptly and follow up to ensure timely resolution.
- Ensure Lost Property procedures are followed, documented, and securely managed.
- Maintain strict control of master keys and access protocols.
- Ensure compliance with all hotel policies, WHS requirements, and legislative obligations.
Training, Development & Team Culture
- Deliver training on cleaning standards, procedures, equipment use, and safety practices.
- Coach and mentor Supervisors and Room Attendants to support skill development and consistency.
- Promote a positive, respectful, and collaborative team environment.
- Lead by example in professionalism, communication, and guest service.
- Attend management meetings, training sessions, and cross-departmental briefings.
Qualification & experience Skills & Experience
- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience.
- Relevant Diploma level qualification.
- Strong organisational, communication, and people-management skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Proficiency in housekeeping systems, inventory management, and Microsoft Office.
Physical Demands
- Ability to walk, stand, bend, and inspect rooms for extended periods.
- Capacity to assist with physical tasks when required, including lifting and carrying items.
- Comfortable working across multiple floors and areas of the property.
Professional Standards
- Well-presented, punctual, and aligned with hotel grooming standards.
- Demonstrates integrity, professionalism, and strong work ethic.
- Proactive in identifying issues and implementing solutions.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Thorough understanding of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and PPE requirements.
- Ensure all WHS procedures are followed and staff are trained accordingly.
