Queensland

CHQ is a specialist statewide hospital and health service dedicated to caring for children and young people from across Queensland and northern Recent South Wales. Our vision is to lead life-changing care for children and young people for a healthier tomorrow. We do this through world-class care, research, advocacy and leadership, and collaborating with our healthcare partners, most importantly families, to ensure we consistently deliver safe, high-quality person-centred care.

About the Team

The Child Development Service teams provide a family-centred, specialist public health service for children who have complex developmental and behavioural concerns. The teams provide multidisciplinary clinical services and consultancy/advice to support a comprehensive understanding of the child's developmental profile and how this relates to their functioning and participation in everyday life. Teams use a strengths-based, partnership approach to enable families, key stakeholders and community providers to best support the child's optimal development, health and wellbeing across the life course.

Teams also contribute to education and training, advocacy and development of professional competence and standards in the field of developmental paediatrics. Teams include a variety of health professionals including medical, allied health and nursing, along with administration officer personnel.

Teams provide clinical services at the Queensland Children's Hospital quaternary service and community services across thirteen sites clustered in Central North and South locations.
