We are seeking Laboratory Assistant to join our dedicated laboratory team within Bella Vista, NSW in the Molecular department. In this role, the successful applicant will be responsible for preparation of specimens for analysis, maintenance of instrumentation and equipment and compliance with accreditation and quality assurance requirements.

The position will be:

- Casual
- Strictly evening work

Specific duties include:

- Ensure that all company WH&S; requirements are observed
- Maintain a high quality, team focused, accurate and efficient work environment
- Preparation of specimens (swabs and sputum) for NAAT assays
- Cleaning and aseptic technique in all aspects of testing
- Preparation of PCR reagents as required
- Perform all procedures as documented in the Laboratory Procedure Manual
- Maintain quality control of equipment, reagents and other duties as required
- Good knowledge of laboratory operations including; safety, operation of equipment and hands on practical experience performing laboratory skills and compliance with accreditation and quality assurance requirements
- Ensure that equipment and laboratory work areas are clean and orderly

Skills and experience:

- Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques, or be studying for this as minimum
- High attention to detail and experience working in a fast paced environment
- An enthusiastic and flexible approach to work
- Ability to multitask and successfully work as part of a team
- Exceptional time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines
- The ability to contribute towards the delivery of customer focused services
- Available to work as versatile roster, including weekends and public holiday
