CUC Far West is seeking a motivated and organised Student & Centre Support Officer to provide high‑quality student services, learning support and operational assistance at our Broken Hill Centre. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys helping others, thrives in a busy environment and is passionate about supporting regional students in their education journey.
Working closely with the Centre Manager and wider team, you will deliver front‑line student support, assist with onboarding and academic skills guidance, maintain Centre presentation and equipment, and help coordinate events and daily operations. You will also support data processes, reporting and administrative tasks that keep the Centre running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide front‑of‑house support including student enquiries, registrations and general assistance
- Support daily Centre operations including room setup, equipment checks and presentation
- Assist with administrative tasks such as data entry, scheduling and record keeping
- Provide academic and learning skills support (study skills, referencing, organisation)
- Assist with onboarding, orientation and technology setup for new students
- Conduct workshops, group sessions and learning support activities
- Support community engagement and outreach events
- Assist with student data processes, reporting and evaluation activities
- Conduct regular safety checks and support safe event delivery
About You
You will bring a warm, professional approach and a genuine interest in supporting students.
You enjoy working in a small team, can manage competing priorities, and feel confident engaging with diverse people.
Essential Criteria
- A minimum of a Bachelor‑level qualification in any discipline and demonstrated ability to apply this knowledge in a student‑support context
- Experience in student support, education or community services, with examples of delivering high‑quality assistance to diverse individuals
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build rapport with students, staff and community stakeholders
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a small team, demonstrating initiative and sound judgement
- Robust organisational and administrative skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a busy Centre environment
- Confidence supporting students with academic skills, including study strategies, referencing guidance and organisation
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data systems, with the ability to maintain accurate records and follow administrative processes
- Ability to travel for occasional outreach, engagement or operational requirements
- Current NSW Working With Children Check (or willingness to obtain prior to commencement)
Desirable
- Experience in higher education or student services
- Experience coordinating events or activities
- First Aid / Mental Health First Aid
- Current Driver’s Licence
Role Details
- Part‑time, 30 hours per week
- One late‑night shift per week/fortnight
- Classified under HEW Level 5–6, depending on experience
- Salary and conditions in accordance with the Higher Education Industry – General Staff Award 2020
