About the role

We are seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join our growing engineering team in Wetherill Park, NSW. This is a full-time position that offers a fantastic opportunity to take a central role in designing and developing electrical switchboard systems and distribution solutions. As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for translating customer requirements into robust, compliant electrical designs that meet industry standards and operational specifications. This role is strategically important to our business, as it directly influences the quality, safety, and marketability of our switchboard products. You will work on-site at our Wetherill Park facility, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative electrical solutions.

Key responsibilities

- Design electrical switchboards, distribution panels, and associated systems using CAD software and industry-standard design tools
- Develop detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, BOM, and technical drawings in accordance with relevant Australian and international electrical standards
- Conduct load calculations, fault level analysis, and protection coordination studies to ensure system reliability and safety
- Perform design reviews and technical assessments to verify compliance with electrical codes, regulations, and customer specifications
- Liaise with customers, project managers, and manufacturing teams to understand requirements, clarify specifications,



and resolve design issues
- Select appropriate electrical components, switchgear, and control devices based on application requirements and cost efficiency
- Prepare technical documentation, including design reports, performance calculations, and operating manuals
- Assist in the testing and commissioning of switchboard systems to verify design performance and functionality
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying design enhancements and optimisation opportunities
- Stay current with industry standards, emerging technologies, and best practices in electrical engineering

What we're looking for

- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent skilled qualification
- Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in electrical design, preferably in switchboard design, distribution systems, or industrial electrical applications
- Proficiency with electrical CAD software such as AutoCAD, E3, or similar design tools
- Strong understanding of Australian electrical standards, including AS/NZS 61439, AS 3000, and IEC standards
- Solid knowledge of electrical protection principles, control systems, and power distribution theory
- Excellent technical communication skills with the ability to produce clear, detailed technical documentation
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail in design work
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively within deadlines
- Team player with excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills
- Experience with 3D design tools and simulation software is advantageous
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes and practical switchboard assembly is a plus
