Op Shop Store Manager & Retail Assistant

In 2024, Bloomhill Cancer Care became part of the Leukaemia Foundation, providing support services from its integrative cancer care centre in Buderim to address the growing need for cancer care in regional Queensland. Bloomhill Cancer Care is a local Cancer Care facility, established by the Sunshine Coast community for the Sunshine Coast community, to provide care and support for people of all ages living with cancer.

Bloomhill is expanding its retail network and will be opening a NEW Op Shop at Forest Glen in late August.

The Bloomhill Op Shops are ever-evolving stores, of pieces generously donated by the local community on the Sunshine Coast. We sell pre-loved items, supporting a sustainable and feel-good way to shop. Selling everything from clothing to homewares to arts and crafts, with all sales supporting those touched by cancer.

Bloomhill currently has the following retail vacancies:

Store Manager | Monday to Thursday

You will be required to manage the day-to-day functions within the shop and lead your team to success.

Key responsibilities include:

Effectively and efficiently manage the day-to-day store operation, including opening and closing of the store, cash reconciliation and banking.

Direct staff and volunteer as appropriate with delegated tasks, assessing and utilising their strengths and capabilities.

Provide induction, training, mentoring and support to staff and volunteers, ensuring all are familiar with and abide by Bloomhill policies and procedures.

Provide and lead a high level of customer service to support new and existing clients in store and over the phone.

Create genuine customer relationships to ensure a welcoming customer experience and promote return custom.

Ensure a high level of store presentation including visual merchandising, cleanliness and organisation.

Receive, sort and organise stock, including pricing items fairly and appropriately.





Ensure an organised back of house and coordinate directly with our distribution centre.

Actively participate and engage with the management team and wider retail network to contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.

Adopt, demonstrate and maintain safe workplace health and safety practices.

Confidently share the Bloomhill mission with customers, encouraging donations to support our cancer care services.

We are looking for someone with the following skills and experience:

3+ years of retail experience

Demonstrated retail leadership, management or assistant management experience

Ability to work independently and take ownership of individual responsibilities

Ability to work as part of a team of employees and volunteers to support the store operation

Excellent time management skills and punctuality

High level of attention to detail

Ability to lift and move items of varying dimensions to support visual merchandising

Ability to work in a culture of continuous improvement

Excellent personal presentation

Understanding of Bloomhill Cancer Care

Alignment with our values and contribute to a productive and positive culture

Good level computer literacy, including knowledge of the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
