Your Role
The Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) is committed to protecting vulnerable children, young people and families while driving positive change across communities in New South Wales. We are seeking accomplished and strategic human services leaders to provide executive leadership across statutory child protection and out-of-home care (OOHC) services, this recruitment process is to create a talent pool for future opportunities in similar Senior Executive Band 1 roles across the Child Protection and Permanency division.
What you’ll do
As Director Community Services, you will:
- Lead and manage statutory child protection, Out-of-Home Care and early intervention services.
- Drive practice excellence, innovation and continuous improvement.
- Deliver strategic operational leadership aligned with organisational priorities.
- Lead complex reform and change initiatives.
- Build productive partnerships across government, NGOs and communities.
- Provide strategic advice, service planning, performance monitoring and risk management.
- Lead and develop high-performing multidisciplinary teams.
- Manage significant financial and human resources.
Other Senior Executive Band 1 roles that may be filled from this talent pool across the Child Protection and Permanency division are involved in strategic advice, improving operational practices, and business transformation.
What we’re looking for
- Extensive senior leadership experience within child protection, human services, community services or a related sector.
- Demonstrated capability leading statutory child protection, Out-of-Home Care, family support or related services.
- Proven success driving reform, innovation and performance improvement.
- Solid governance, risk management, workforce leadership and financial management capability.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
- Tertiary qualifications in social policy, public administration, management or related discipline and/or substantial human services experience.
