Electrician (Mechanical Services - Commercial)

Advanced Contracting Pty Ltd is seeking a skilled Electrician (Mechanical Services - Commercial) to join our dynamic team in Hobart, Tasmania. This is a full-time position based at our Hobart TAS 7000 location. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems within commercial mechanical services environments. You will work on a variety of projects, ensuring all work is completed to the highest standards and in compliance with relevant electrical codes and safety regulations. This position offers the chance to develop your expertise in commercial electrical installations whilst working with a reputable contracting firm.

Key responsibilities

- Install, test, and commission electrical systems and components in commercial mechanical services applications
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections of electrical equipment and installations
- Diagnose and repair electrical faults and malfunctions in mechanical systems
- Read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation
- Ensure all work complies with relevant electrical standards, codes, and safety regulations
- Collaborate with other trades and team members on job sites to ensure coordinated project delivery
- Maintain accurate records of work completed and materials used
- Operate and maintain electrical testing and diagnostic equipment
- Conduct safety checks and identify potential hazards on job sites
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior tradespeople when required

What we're looking for

- A current electrical licence recognised in Tasmania or the ability to obtain one
- Minimum of 3 years' experience as a qualified electrician, with demonstrated experience in commercial or industrial settings
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, circuitry, and mechanical services integration
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical plans, schematics, and technical drawings
- Competency in using electrical testing equipment such as multimeters, insulation testers,



and power analysers
- Knowledge of relevant electrical standards, including AS/NZS 3000 and work health and safety regulations
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose complex electrical issues
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities to work effectively with other trades and supervisors
- A valid driver's licence and reliable transport to site locations
- A commitment to safety practices and a proactive approach to workplace safety
- Preferably, experience with building management systems, HVAC electrical controls, but not critical.
