QR_ is currently expanding its activity in Australia and we are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Brisbane and Melbourne team.

The role:

Provide a high level of mechanical engineering technical competence based on relevant experience and knowledge.

Develop mechanical engineering solutions to support the design, manufacture, integration, and sustainment of defence vehicles and associated systems.

Undertake technical investigations, root cause analysis and solution identification.

Produce and review engineering design and drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical documentation in accordance with company and Defence standards.

Deliver technical reports and technical documentation in accordance with established standards.

Support engineering change management, configuration control, and technical data management throughout the product lifecycle.

Plan and coordinate assigned engineering projects from concept through to delivery, including the development of project plans, schedule and engagement of internal and external stakeholders.

Participate in the design coordination meetings with the rest of the Engineering Team members.

Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, FMEA,



and technical peer reviews to improve product quality and reliability

Liaison with Clients (internal & external) and subcontractors.

Requirements analysis and verification development.

Project Management, including management of task schedule, resourcing, budget and progress monitoring and reporting.

Provide engineering support to manufacturing, assembly, supplier qualification, and field sustainment activities.

Follow State WHSE Acts, Regulations and accountability with leadership for the safety and wellbeing of staff and their commitment to protect the environment.

Exercise due diligence by taking reasonable steps to acquire and keep up-to-date knowledge of work health and safety & Environmental matters and ensuring information regarding incidents, hazards and risks is received as soon as practicable and action is implemented in a timely way.

Must Have:

Minimum 3+ years of experience in mechanical engineering within defence, automotive, heavy vehicle, or complex manufacturing industries.

Proven skills and experience in a mechanical engineering function.

Experience in a technical and industrial Defence environment.

Experience supporting testing, root cause analysis, and engineering investigations.

Proven ability to produce explicit and well‑presented reports to a suitable quality and standard.

Strong interpersonal skills.

Experience in relevant CAD/3D software package (Creo, SolidWorks, CATIA, NX, Inventor, etc.).

Demonstrated ability to operate autonomously using initiative, sound reasoning, listening and decision‑making skills.

Demonstrated ability to deliver results in a high‑pressure environment.

Ability to manage, prioritise and complete multiple tasks concurrently.

Ability to communicate effectively and build positive relationships at all levels of the business and Clients.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree ‑ Engineering (Mechanical)

Ability to gain a Baseline Australian Security Clearance
