Role Overview

Microsystems is looking for a versatile Service / Project Network and Systems Engineer to join our Cairns team. In this role, you will handle the design, implementation, maintenance, and high-level troubleshooting of client networks. You will act as a point of technical drive and priority escalation for critical emergencies, while occasionally assisting the sales team with pre‑sales engineering (evaluating architecture and drafting Statements of Work).

Key Responsibilities

- Client Environments: Support and optimize network environments ranging from 5 to 200+ users.

- Deployments: Install,



configure, test, and optimize networks, applications, servers, routers, firewalls, switches, and wireless access points.

- Consulting & Strategy: Assess client networks, recommend infrastructure improvements (upgrades, rack tidy‑ups), and provide strategic IT planning for cloud/hybrid models.

- Documentation: Update and create technical documentation, disaster recovery plans, and IT system guidelines.

- On‑Site Travel: Travel to client premises as required for deployments and troubleshooting.

Candidate Requirements

Technical Experience

- Experience: 2+ years of experience in a Managed IT Services (MSP) environment.

- Core Systems: Strong background in Microsoft Server platforms and Microsoft 365 environments.

- Tooling: Experience with RMM tools (e.g., Labtech, Kaseya, N-Able) and PSA ticketing systems (e.g., ConnectWise, ServiceNow, Freshservice, AutoTask).

- Education: A Bachelor's degree or higher in IT, alongside relevant industry certifications, is highly advantageous.

Required Core Technologies

You will be expected to plan, install, manage, and maintain:

- Cloud & Mail: Microsoft 365, Azure, Exchange (Online & On-Premises), Cloud Migrations

- Networking: Cisco & Ubiquiti Ecosystems (Firewalls, Switches, WAPs)

- Security: Sophos CyberSecurity products

- Backup & Storage: Veeam, StorageCraft, Synology BDR products

- Hardware: Lenovo, HP, Dell endpoint technologies

Soft Skills & Logistics

- Self-Motivated: Excellent time management and a proactive, positive attitude.

- Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills and fluent English (direct client-facing contact).

- Licensing: A current Australian Driver's License is essential for client site travel.
