The Role

Reporting directly to the Stormwater Manager, you will join our Stormwater & Flood team and work collaboratively with experienced engineers across a range of residential projects throughout the Northern Beaches and Greater Sydney.

The position is primarily focused on stormwater and flood engineering; however, your practical structural background will also be valuable. You will coordinate drainage designs with building structures and, where required, support our structural team with residential design, documentation and site inspections under the guidance of experienced structural engineers.

This role is ideal for a stormwater engineer who has previously worked in structural design and enjoys contributing across both disciplines while continuing to build their technical capability.

Key Responsibilities

Develop practical stormwater and flood design solutions from initial investigation through to approval and completion.

Prepare stormwater management strategies, hydraulic assessments, plans, reports and supporting approval documentation.

Undertake hydraulic modelling, OSD design,



drainage assessments and flood-related analysis.

Conduct site inspections, identify drainage issues and recommend practical maintenance or improvement solutions.

Liaise with clients, councils, architects, builders and other consultants throughout project delivery.

Coordinate stormwater designs with structural elements and broader building requirements.

Assist the structural team with residential design, documentation and site inspections when required.

Take ownership of assigned projects, maintain strong stakeholder relationships and support junior team members where appropriate.

Your Experience

We're looking for a professional with:

Approximately 3–5 years' hands‑on experience in stormwater engineering, drainage design or flood modelling.

Strong capability in stormwater management design, hydraulic modelling, OSD design and hydraulic drainage assessments.

Experience preparing detailed stormwater management plans and reports, flood studies, and supporting documentation for DA, CDC and CC approvals.

Proficiency in relevant software such as MUSIC, DRAINS, HEC-RAS and/or TUFLOW.

Knowledge of council stormwater requirements, approval processes and relevant Australian Standards.





The ability to conduct site inspections and assess stormwater conditions, drainage performance and structural considerations.

Demonstrated experience in structural design and documentation, ideally across residential or multi‑residential projects.

A sound working knowledge of concrete, steel and timber design, together with the relevant Australian Standards.

The ability to assist with structural projects from concept design through documentation and site inspections, working with senior engineers where appropriate.

Strong report writing, technical review, attention to detail and practical problem‑solving skills.

Excellent communication skills and confidence liaising with clients, councils, architects, builders and other consultants.

A collaborative approach and the ability to manage priorities across multidisciplinary projects.

An understanding of NSW Design and Building Practitioners Act requirements will be highly regarded.
