We are seeking an exceptional Senior Financial Controller to join our Executive Leadership Team.

The organisation works with Government, local Councils as well as private partners and clients to provide high-quality services and sustainable health outcomes. The company is in a growth period expanding its services to remote and rural areas across Australia.
The Role
The Senior Financial Controller (SFC) is responsible for overseeing Heart of Australia Pty Ltd’s accounting operations and financial reporting to develop financial strategies and share analysis findings with management. The SFC partners with the CEO and senior leaders to ensure the Company has sustainable growth, strong governance, effective cash and working-capital management, and clear, data driven, decision-useful insights across the business.
The SFC will build and maintain strong relationships across the business, and partner with key stakeholders internally and externally.
Key responsibilities include, but not limited to:
Financial Strategy and Business Partnering
Develop and execute the organisation’s financial strategy aligned to Heart of Australia Pty Ltd’s mission, operating model and growth plans.
Lead monthly reporting and analysis of various cost centres to enable transparent decision-making and scenario planning.
Establish performance reporting that links financial results to operational drivers and outcomes.
Financial Operations and Reporting
Oversee end-to-end finance operations including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and month-end close.
Ensure timely, accurate management reporting (P&L;, balance sheet, cashflow,
variance analysis) with clear insights and recommendations.
Implement and continuously improve financial systems, processes and internal controls, including delegations of authority and expenditure governance.
Oversee procurement/contract financial controls as required (e.g., purchase order discipline, vendor terms, and cost control).
Governance, Compliance and Risk
Ensure compliance with all applicable financial, taxation and statutory obligations (including BAS/GST, PAYG, superannuation and other required reporting).
Lead the annual financial statements process liaising with external accountants.
Maintain and enhance the financial risk management framework, including insurance, fraud prevention and business continuity financial considerations.
Leadership and Culture
Lead, coach and develop the finance function to deliver high-quality service, strong controls and continuous improvement.
Build financial capability across the organisation by partnering with budget owners and improving financial literacy and processes.
Promote a culture of integrity, accountability and stewardship aligned to Heart of Australia Pty Ltd’s values.
On-time month-end close and accurate management reporting within agreed timeframes.
Forecast accuracy and proactive identification of risks/opportunities.
Strong cashflow outcomes and effective working-capital management.
Clean audit outcomes (where applicable)
and evidence of compliance with statutory obligations.
Documented and operating financial controls, delegations and policies.
Positive stakeholder feedback on finance partnering and service quality.
About You
You are a CPA or CA qualified finance leader with significant experience in senior financial management. Commercially astute and strategically minded, you have a proven ability to lead financial strategy, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management while ensuring strong governance, compliance, and risk management.
You build trusted relationships with executives and external stakeholders, communicating complex financial information in a clear and practical way to support informed decision-making. Equally comfortable working at a strategic level or rolling up your sleeves when required, you are a team-oriented leader with a high level of integrity, sound judgement, and a passion for driving continuous improvement.
You will also bring:
Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline.
Demonstrated experience improving finance systems, controls, and business processes.
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, including executive and government reporting.
A pragmatic, solutions-focused approach with exceptional attention to detail.
Experience in the Health Sector is desirable, but not essential.

This is a full-time, onsite role based in Toowong - Monday to Friday 08:30am to 5:00pm. Occasional travel may be required.
Remuneration will be commensurate with the successful candidate’s skills and experience.
