This is a relationship-focused role for someone who can listen, build trust and recognise the strengths, aspirations and individual circumstances of each participant. You will help people navigate available services, develop practical action plans and take meaningful steps towards their goals.

About the role

As a Mentor in the Parent Pathways program, you will:

- Build respectful and trusting relationships with parents and carers from diverse backgrounds.
- Connect participants with relevant services and resources, including childcare, housing, financial assistance and education.
- Support participants with employment searches, resumes and interview preparation.
- Help participants understand and meet relevant Centrelink requirements and obligations.
- Develop tailored action plans that reflect each participant's circumstances, strengths and aspirations.
- Provide ongoing encouragement and practical support as participants work through their action plans.
- Facilitate workshops and group sessions that build knowledge, connection and a sense of community.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of appointments and participant communication.
- Work within Parent Pathways guidelines, contractual requirements and organisational frameworks.
- Contribute to the program’s ongoing improvement, outcomes and performance goals.





What they are looking for

You will bring:

- Demonstrated experience in mentoring, coaching or support services, particularly with parents, carers, or students.
- A Certificate III or higher in Community Services or a related field.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- The ability to build genuine rapport and trust with people from different cultural backgrounds and life experiences.
- Cultural awareness, sensitivity and a respectful, person-centred approach.
- Knowledge of community services and resources available to parents and carers.
- The ability to interpret guidelines and work confidently within established frameworks.
- Good computer skills, including experience using Microsoft Office and relevant government systems.
- A commitment to supporting positive education, training and employment outcomes.
- A recent clear National Police Check.
- A current Queensland Blue Card.
