Carruthers Contracting is seeking an experienced Foreman to join our dynamic team on the Sunshine Coast. This is a full-time position that offers the opportunity to lead and manage civil construction projects from conception through to completion. As Foreman, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of site operations, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget. This role is integral to our success, as you will be the driving force behind maintaining our reputation for quality workmanship and exceptional project delivery.
Key responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate all site activities, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and quality standards
- Plan and schedule work activities, allocating resources and personnel effectively to meet project timelines
- Conduct daily toolbox meetings and site inductions for all personnel working on site
- Manage site logistics, including materials storage, equipment maintenance and inventory control
- Liaise with project managers, supervisors and subcontractors to ensure transparent communication and project alignment
- Monitor quality of work and implement corrective actions when standards are not met
- Maintain accurate site records, including timesheets, incident reporting and daily site reports
- Identify and resolve operational challenges and site issues promptly
- Mentor and develop site staff, providing guidance and training to enhance team performance
- Ensure all equipment and machinery are operated safely and maintained in good working condition
What we're looking for
- Minimum 5 years' experience as a Foreman or Supervisor in civil construction projects
- Current White Card (Construction Induction Certificate)
- Valid driver's licence and ability to travel to various project sites
- Strong knowledge of civil construction practices, methods and safety procedures
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate diverse teams
- Excellent organisational and time management abilities
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction plans, specifications
- Understanding of project cost control measures
- First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain one)
- Experience with civil construction software and digital reporting systems is desirable
- Knowledge of environmental and compliance regulations relevant to construction
