General Staircase is seeking an experienced and skilled Staircase Joiner/Fabricator to join our team on a full-time basis. Based in Wetherill Park, NSW, this role is central to our business, as you will be responsible for the fabrication and assembly of high-quality staircases and related components. As a Staircase Joiner/Fabricator, you will play a crucial part in delivering bespoke staircase solutions to our clients, ensuring that every project meets our exacting standards for craftsmanship and precision. This position offers the opportunity to work with quality materials and modern equipment whilst contributing to the reputation of one of the region's leading staircase manufacturers.

Key responsibilities

Fabricate and assemble staircase components using traditional joinery techniques and modern machinery

Read and interpret technical drawings, plans and specifications to ensure accurate construction of staircase systems

Measure, mark and cut timber and other materials to precise specifications

Perform detailed joinery work including mortise and tenon joints, dovetails and other specialist joints required for staircase construction

Assemble staircase components on site or in the workshop, including treads, risers, stringers and handrails

Install and fit balustrades, newel posts and handrails with precision and attention to detail

Finish and sand components to the required standard, preparing them for painting or staining

Maintain workshop tools and equipment in good working order and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations

Quality check all work to ensure it meets company standards and customer expectations

Liaise with the design and installation teams to ensure project requirements are understood and met

What we're looking for

Proven experience as a Joiner or Cabinet Maker, with specific experience in staircase fabrication and assembly

Strong knowledge of timber selection, joinery techniques and woodworking principles

Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications





Competency with a range of woodworking tools and machinery, including hand tools and power tools

Ability to work to precise measurements and exacting standards

Knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices in workshop environments

Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills

Strong communication and teamwork abilities

A valid driver's license and willingness to travel to installation sites if required

Preferred: Experience with curved staircases, spiral staircases or complex staircase designs

Preferred: Certification or qualifications in carpentry, joinery or cabinet making from a recognised training provider
