ABOUT THE POSITION
Working closely with the Operations Manager at our Botany site, you will support our operational teams in maintaining the highest standards of regulatory compliance, safety, and operational excellence. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, industry standards, and internal policies while fostering a strong culture of safety and continuous improvement. In addition you will play a key role in developing procedures, delivering training, monitoring legislative changes, and managing hazard reporting systems across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and ensure compliance with applicable legislation, regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
- Conduct regular compliance audits and inspections across site operational activities.
- Maintain compliance records and documentation to meet regulatory requirements.
- Develop, coordinate, and deliver compliance and operational training programs
- Maintain training records and competency assessments.
- Ensure employees understand and adhere to company procedures and regulatory obligations.
- Support onboarding and ongoing compliance awareness initiatives.
- Develop, review, and update operational policies, procedures, work instructions, and compliance documentation.
- Ensure procedures align with legislative requirements and operational best practices.
- Promote continuous improvement through regular review and stakeholder engagement.
- Maintain hazard, incident, and corrective action registers.
- Coordinate hazard identification and risk assessment activities.
- Ensure timely reporting, investigation, and closure of safety and compliance action within the Quantem EHS management system.
- Analyse trends and provide recommendations to the Terminal Operations manager to improve workplace safety performance.
- Act as a visible safety leader by promoting secure behaviours, conducting toolbox talks, and reinforcing site standards.
- Verify critical controls are in place and effective, intervening and escalating issues when required.
- Coach, train, and support operators to build capability, maintain compliance, and drive operational excellence.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping, site presentation, and operational discipline across all work groups .
- Support and influence the permit-to-work processes and ensure adherence to terminal operating procedures and standardised work practices.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve efficiency, simplify processes, and standardise frontline activities.
- Maintain accurate operational records, logs, permits, and reports, while promptly addressing defects, hazards, and non-conformances.
- Champion Quantem's values and contribute to a high-performing, engaging team culture through effective leadership, collaboration, and coaching.
- Facilitate product stewardship and compliance to quality testing requirements for speciality products like Tallow, Jet A-1 etc.
About You
- Experience in bulk liquid handling/terminal operations, fuels/chemicals operations, or similar industrial operations environment.
- Ability to influence stakeholders and build solid working relationships across all levels of the organisation.
- Strong understanding of regulatory compliance and risk management principles.
- Experience developing policies, procedures, and training materials.
- Sound understanding of permit to work and isolations/LOTO and ability to verify field compliance.
- Effective communication skill and proven experience in dealing with different stakeholders including customers
- Ability to supervise contractors/operators and communicate clearly across shifts.
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to understand financial information
- Experience acting as an operational customer interface, including day to day coordination and issue resolution.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities with experience in people and organisational management.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent record for reliability, attendance and a 'can do' attitude.
