Laboratory Supervisor - Sunshine Sugar Broadwater Mill

In a newly created role, we are seeking a Laboratory Supervisor to join the team at the Broadwater site. As a Laboratory Supervisor, you will be responsible for planning, directing and coordinating the laboratory quality activities to ensure the delivery of reliable and accurate analytical data for process control, product quality, customer requirements and environmental compliance.

About the role

- The day to day supervision of a small laboratory team, including rostering, leave planning and performance management
- Ensuring reliable, timely and accurate analysis and reporting for process control, sugar quality, environmental monitoring and non routine testing, including one weekend day in the crushing season
- Play a lead role in developing and maintaining Valuable Laboratory Practices (GLP) and requirements of the cane supply and processing contract
- Providing guidance, training and advice on analytical techniques
- Assisting in factory, laboratory, quality and complaints investigations and report where required
- Implement and report on inter mill product exchange program to ensure analytical accuracy
- Maintaining adequate levels of laboratory supplies
- Ensuring analytical equipment is calibrated, maintained and repaired as required

We are looking for

- Commitment and good attitude to safety and culture
- Relevant qualifications Cert III Laboratory Techniques or better (tertiary qualifications in chemistry or food technologist highly regarded)
- Demonstrated experience in laboratory operations in a mid-size food manufacturing business.
- Strong communication skills and IT fluency (MS Office suite)

- Ability to influence others in a positive way to ensure improvements and process changes are accepted
