Deliver evidence-based psychological care to people experiencing acute mental health crises across emergency and home-based settings.

About the role

The Psychologist – Acute Care Team (RedCab) delivers competent, evidence-based psychological services to consumers experiencing complex mental health and alcohol and other drug (AOD) issues within acute emergency department and home-based outreach settings. As a member of the Redcliffe-Caboolture Acute Care Team, the role provides assessment, formulation, intervention and care planning for individuals across the lifespan within a recovery-oriented and trauma-informed framework.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary mental health team to provide crisis intervention, risk assessment, psychological therapies and intensive outreach support aimed at reducing hospital admissions and promoting recovery. The role also contributes to service development, quality improvement initiatives, clinical supervision and interdisciplinary collaboration across the broader mental health system.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

- Deliver evidence-based psychological assessment, formulation and intervention services for consumers presenting with complex mental health and AOD needs in acute and community settings.
- Provide culturally safe, trauma-informed and recovery-focused care using contemporary psychological frameworks and therapeutic approaches.
- Undertake comprehensive risk assessment,



crisis intervention and care planning while supporting consumers, families and carers through periods of acute mental health distress.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, healthcare providers and community agencies to support coordinated and individualised care.
- Contribute to quality improvement, professional development, supervision, education and service development activities that enhance consumer outcomes and service delivery.
