The Rail Division helps connect Queensland by planning, delivering and managing major rail projects and services across the state. Its four branches are Strategic Rail, Passenger Rollingstock and Signalling, Rail Infrastructure Delivery, and The Wave (Rail).
The Wave is a generational infrastructure project that will revolutionise travel on and around the Sunshine Coast, creating a seamless public transport network that will help to shape the region and unlock new housing and economic opportunities. The Wave includes passenger heavy rail from Beerwah to Birtinya, connecting with a metro-style service to allow journeys to the Sunshine Coast Airport via Mountain Creek and Maroochydore CBD.
The Wave (Rail) branch will deliver Stages 1 and 2 of The Wave. Stage 1 includes a new rail line from Beerwah to Caloundra. With $5.5 billion committed towards Stage 1 delivery,
