The Waves Group Limited is seeking an experienced and energetic Financial Controller to join our Finance Team.

As our Financial Controller, you will oversee the accounting function across the Group, working closely with and reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer. You’ll partner with managers and teams across our Bundaberg, Caloundra and Elliott Heads operations, providing financial leadership while supporting the continued success of The Waves.

Key Responsibilities

- Overseeing our team's day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, POS reconciliations, processing transactions and bank reconciliations. You’ll become our Bingo and Functions accounting specialist!
- Month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, review, and assist in the preparation of financial reports.
- Oversee the general ledger,



ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately and promptly.
- Maintain and improve accounting systems, work instructions and procedures.
- Assist in developing our Finance Team’s skill set by providing mentorship, training and assistance.
- Answer accounting related queries quickly and accurately across all teams.
- Assist in supporting our operational IT across the organisation, including troubleshooting any issues and minimizing disruptions to business functions.
- Have a genuine interest and desire to learn about our IT systems and integrations - with the view to becoming technically savvy across our Club's different systems and processes.
- Assist with payroll reconciliations, journals and processing.

About You

- Prior experience in a corporate financial accounting role. Our ideal candidate will understand a month end process and journals, key accounting reports, and balance sheet reconciliations - and, who can apply those skills whilst learning about our unique Club industry.
- A thorough understanding of XERO financial software and Excel. We also use Dext, Fathom, Swiftpos and Tanda, but will train the right person on these packages.
- A strong understanding of GST legislation.
- Exceptional interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships and collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
- The key qualities of self-organisation, self-motivation and a demonstrated willingness to contribute towards our team’s success.
- Tertiary qualifications in Business or Accounting.
