Our work spans commercial workplace, hospitality-led environments, building upgrades, speculative suites and complex interior projects for some of Australia’s most respected clients, landlords and organisations.

We are entering an exciting period of growth and are looking for a talented Senior Interior Designer to join our Sydney studio.

This is a role for a designer who is passionate about creating meaningful spaces, confident in leading projects, and ready to contribute to a studio that values design excellence, care, clarity and collaboration in equal measure.

The Role

As Senior Interior Designer, you will lead and contribute to projects from briefing and strategy through to concept, design development, documentation and delivery.

You will work closely with our internal design team, clients, consultants, project managers, builders and suppliers to deliver exceptional interiors and an exceptional client experience.

This is a hands-on senior role suited to someone who can move confidently between:

Big-picture design thinking

Space planning and design development

Detailed documentation and coordination

FF&E;, finishes and materiality

Client presentations and stakeholder management

Construction-stage support and on-site problem solving

You will be trusted to manage projects, guide design outcomes, support others and uphold the quality and integrity of alkimi’s work across every phase.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

Lead interior design projects from briefing through to completion

Develop strong design concepts that are creative, commercially intelligent and aligned with the client brief





Prepare and oversee design presentations, concept packages, sketch plans, design development packages, documentation sets, schedules and FF&E; selections

Produce and coordinate detailed documentation for tender and construction

Facilitate and contribute to client briefings, workshops, presentations and project meetings

Manage relationships with clients, consultants, project managers, builders, suppliers and other project stakeholders

Lead multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining design quality, accuracy and momentum

Guide and support junior and mid-level designers within the project team

Undertake detailed coordination with consultants and external project teams

Contribute to a positive, cooperative and high-performing studio culture

Bring curiosity, care and rigour to the way we design, document and deliver

About You

You are a confident and capable designer with strong creative, technical and communication skills.

You care deeply about design quality, but also understand the importance of process, relationships, budgets, timelines and delivery. You are comfortable leading a room, presenting ideas, resolving details, coordinating with consultants and supporting a team.

You bring energy, initiative and thoughtfulness to your work, and you are looking for a studio where you can continue to grow while making a meaningful contribution.

What We Are Looking For

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

5 to 10 years’ experience in interior design or interior architecture





A relevant diploma or degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture or a related discipline

Strong experience across commercial workplace, hospitality or design-led interior projects

A proven ability to lead projects from concept through to delivery

Strong concept design, planning, documentation and detailing skills

Confidence preparing complete design packages, including concept, detailed design, technical documentation, FF&E; schedules and finishes schedules

Excellent client-facing skills and the ability to communicate design ideas clearly and confidently

Strong consultant coordination and construction-stage experience

A high level of attention to detail

The ability to manage your own workload while contributing positively to a team

A sound understanding of relevant building codes, accessibility requirements and compliance considerations

A genuine passion for sustainable, considered and long-lasting design outcomes

Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp and Enscape

Strong capability across Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office

Strong presentation skills, both visual and verbal

The ability to sketch, draw and communicate ideas by hand is highly valued
