About the role
The Policy Analyst playsan important rolein supporting the delivery of the NSW Visitor Economy Strategy. Working within Destination NSW, the roleresearchesand analyses information about the visitor economy, industrytrendsand emerging issues to provide clear, evidence-based advice that helps inform government decision-making.
The role prepares a range of high-quality written materials, including briefs, submissions, discussionpapersand presentations. It works across a broad range of policy and strategic projects, helping toidentifyopportunities, assess challenges and provide practical recommendations that support the growth of NSW’s visitor economy.
The Policy Analyst also works closely with colleagues, government agencies, industrygroupsand other stakeholders to support consultation,collaborationand policy development. Success in this role requires robust analytical thinking, sound judgement, excellent written communicationskillsand the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
About you
The successful candidate will be a curious and motivated professional with experience researching complex issues, analysinginformationand turning findings into clear, practical advice. They will have strong written communication skills and be confident preparing briefs, reports,presentationsand other documents for a range of audiences.
They will be highly organised, able to manage multiple priorities and deliver quality work within tighttimeframes. They will enjoy working collaboratively, building effective relationships withstakeholdersand contributing to positive team outcomes.
Key knowledge and experience
- Demonstrated understanding of the key issues and opportunities for the NSW visitor economy.
- Experience anddemonstratedskills in policy development in a government setting and comprehensive understanding of the machinery of government and parliamentary systems and processes.
- Advanced levelproficiencyin Microsoft businesstoolsparticularly PowerPoint.
- This role will support Destination NSW’s sustainability and climate resilience initiatives, so prior experience and an interest in these areas is preferred but not mandatory.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications ordemonstratedequivalent professional experience.
