All Hallows’ School, a Catholic Mercy school for girls fromYears 5–12, seeks to appoint a Senior Library Assistant to join ourcommunity.
We are seeking a professional, committed, enthusiastic and highly motivated Senior Library Assistant who will be an integral member of the school’s information and resource specialist team, and works collaboratively within this team to provide high-quality library and information services support for the School.
The Senior Library Assistant plays a pivotal role in supporting the learning, reading, research and information needs of the school community. This position contributes to the delivery of high-quality library services, fostering a culture of literacy, inquiry and lifelong learning. The successful candidate will support staff and students through the provision of library programs, learning resources and digital tools that enhance information and digital literacy skills. They will utilise their expertise in library technologies and digital systems to manage resources, analyse data, inform best practice and contribute to the strategic direction of library services. The role involves delivering instructional sessions to classes, under teacher supervision and using programs developed by professional Librarian staff. The role also includes the management and development of the Library Makerspace program.
Key Responsibilities
- Ability to manage a wide variety of tasks and roles in a variety of contexts, including working collaboratively with teams, where there is complexity in the ranges and choice of actions required within a variety of routines, methods and procedures.
- Ability to provide expertise and assistance with library operations and procedures, resolving problems in both routine and non-routine situations which may be referred from other library team members.
- Organise, manage and review resource programs, including using appropriate digital platforms (Library Management System and digital textbook system)
to assist with resource management.
- Maintain and as directed, design and update online information
- Develop processes to promote particular designated resources such as eBook and eAudiobook platforms, across the school community
- Investigate new technologies and develop processes to integrate these into the library program.
- Application of knowledge related to emerging and complex issues, including, but not limited to licensing, copyright and management of resources in relation to cultural and historical sensitivity.
- Apply a range of technical and other skills involving the self-directed application of knowledge gained through formal studies/ qualifications applicable to this level, or knowledge and experience that are determined by the School as necessary to successfully carry out the duties of this position.
Role Requirements
- Hold and maintain a current Queensland Working with Children Clearance (Blue Card).
- Have approval to work in Australia.
- Have or maintain the appropriate clearances, qualifications or registrations required to perform the inherent functions of the role.
