Known internally as Field Officer

Are you passionate about keeping facilities safe, functional, and looking their best while working in a unique island environment? If you enjoy a physically hands‑on role that combines maintenance, inspections and problem‑solving with strong community impact, we invite you to apply for theMaintenance Officer position at Redland City Council!

This role will primarily support Council facilities across North Stradbroke Island and the Southern Moreton Bay Islands, with opportunities to work across other island and mainland Council locations as operational needs arise. You will undertake physically demanding maintenance activities, conduct frequent site inspections, perform manual handling tasks, and work both indoors and outdoors in varying conditions. A high level of physical fitness and the ability to safely perform the inherent physical requirements of the role are essential.

Your responsibilities will include:

Inspecting Council buildings and facilities across North Stradbroke Island (NSI) and Southern Moreton Bay Islands (SMBI)

Undertaking planned, reactive, and corrective maintenance activities

Performing safety audits, risk assessments, and identifying maintenance priorities

Managing work orders, including accurate updates using asset management systems

Coordinating and supervising contractors to ensure compliance, safety, and quality outcomes

Completing minor improvement works and contributing to asset presentation

Supporting mainland operations as required and working both independently and within a team

Skills and experience:

Experience in building maintenance, facilities management, or a similar field‑based role, ideally supported by a trade background and strong mechanical mindset

Strong understanding of WH&S; requirements with a safety‑first mindset

Proven ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and use initiative





Experience using Microsoft Office and asset management/work order systems

Excellent attention to detail with a focus on quality and value for money

Strong communication and customer service skills when dealing with stakeholders and contractors

You’ll hold Current Open C class Driver's Licence

You’ll have the ability to travel between mainland, NSI and SMBI locations and work from Council Island depots or facilities as operationally required.

You’ll have the ability to participate in the after‑hours on‑call roster, including remote response and site‑related operations over weekends and public holidays on a rostered basis
