Gitter Operations Manager Job Description

Gitter Group is a family-owned and operated manufacturing company based in Picton, NSW. We specialise in the fabrication and supply of aluminium architectural and industrial products for commercial construction projects throughout Australia. Our clients include façade contractors, steel fabricators and re-sellers. We are committed to delivering quality products, reliable service and on-time project delivery. With a team of approximately 8-10 production staff, we offer a supportive, team-focused work environment where everyone works together safely and effective.

Job Role Overview

We're looking for an organised, practical and hands-on Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of Gitter Group.

This role is responsible for managing manufacturing operations, production planning and scheduling, stock control, procurement of goods and services, packing and logistics, WHS and QC. The Operations Manager will ensure work is carried out efficiently, jobs are delivered within lead time and our quality standards are maintained, while identifying opportunities to improve processes and operational efficiency.

You will work closely with management and our production team, we understand that learning all aspects of the role takes time, so you'll receive the guidance, training and support needed to become confident in each area of responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

- - Lead all manufacturing and operational activities across the business.
- - Coordinate fabrication, powder coating, procurement, dispatch, and site deliveries.
- - Ensure efficient utilisation of labour, equipment, and manufacturing resources.
- - Manage production peaks and troughs along with required production staff.

Production & Manufacturing

- - Managing and planning production staff’s day-to-day duties.




- - Arranging production folders, cutting lists and ability to understand shop drawings.
- - Oversee fabrication and quality control and ability to work through production questions.
- - Monitor and manage staff resources, identify any bottlenecks for production running efficiency.
- - An eye and mind for continuous improvement initiatives to eliminate production bottlenecks.
- - May need to assist on the factory floor so important your practical and hands on.
- - Forklift duties, preparing stock for production, loading and unloading trucks if required.
- - Arranging and overseeing maintenance and servicing of machinery and equipment.

Quality Assurance

- - Oversee and Inspection fabrication quality and final product inspection before dispatching.
- - Implement QA procedures and implement corrective actions for quality issues.

Procurement & Stock Control

- - Monthly visual count of aluminium stock on hand.
- - Manage procurement of raw materials and outsourced services such as powder coating.
- - Filing away orders, receiving delivery dockets and ensure align with purchase orders.

Health, Safety & Compliance

- - Point of contact for Global Compliance and implement Safety Systems through production.
- - Safety minded, ability to remind production staff to use PPE if they see necessary.
- - Update and manage WHS safety platform and assisting in monthly toolbox talks.

Leadership & People Management

- - Lead, mentor and foster a positive, accountable, and high-performing workplace culture.




- - Promote teamwork, communication, and continuous learning.
- - Production staff can be accountable to.

Operational Admin

- - Moderate level computer skills, ability to work with Outlook, Excel, MYOB , Microsoft Team
- - Email responsive – responding, assisting and updating to clients with order queries or status.
- -

Logistics/Transport

- - Planning internal delivery runs.
- - Prepare pallet slips and delivery dockets.
- - Coordinate site deliveries with customers.

Skills & Experience

- - Experience in an Operations, Manufacturing, or Production Management role.
- - Experience within metal fabrication, façades, aluminium, or commercial construction manufacturing is highly desirable.
- - Strong leadership and people management skills.
- - Excellent planning, organisational, and problem-solving abilities.
- - Sound knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality systems, and WHS.

What’s Required

- - Full-time, on-site position based in Picton, NSW.
- - Standard working hours: 7:00 am – 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday.
- - Current Australian driver's licence and reliable transport to commute to work.
- - Forklift licence preferred but not essential. Training and licensing can be provided.
